Resources for Chairs & Directors

New Faculty Gatherings are a series of monthly lunches/cocktail hours held during your first few years on the KU faculty designed to introduce you to practices and resources that will help you to be successful in your faculty role. Topics will include things like cultivating a network of mentors and peer mentors, designing courses so they focus on active learning, connecting undergraduates to research opportunities, selecting service opportunities that are right for you and your academic career stage, opportunities for service learning and engaged scholarship, helping students in crisis, preparing for the promotion and tenure process, and more.

We hope that these gatherings are not only useful in terms of their content, but also help you to foster connections across campus with your faculty peers in a variety of disciplines.

If you have an idea or a need, please share it with any of us in the Faculty Development Office!

Please hold the dates and times listed below!  Additional gatherings may be scheduled and announced via email throughout the year. Specific topics and speakers will be announced via invitations sent prior to each session.
